Although general knowledge of the experienced jail supervisor and familiarity with current practices are what is required to pass the examination, the CJS Resource Guide will be of some assistance in preparing for the examination. The list of resources is neither all-inclusive nor exhaustive.

For those of you who have embarked upon a career and not just a job, please consider the American Jail Association certification programs. AJA introduced the Certified Jail Supervisor certification, perfect for mid-level managers, in the fall of 2019, and to date, we have 40 Certified Jail Supervisors across the country. Increased interest in this certification led AJA to offer a virtual training in August 2020 to share the new program with jail personnel.
