In Memoriam: Timothy P. Ryan
AJA President 2002–2003

Past AJA President, colleague, and friend, Timothy P. Ryan, CCT, CJM, passed away on September 26, 2021 at the age of 73.

Tim served as President of the American Jail Association from 2002-2003. A staunch supporter of the corrections profession, he was one of the first Certified Jail Managers in the country and a Lifetime Member of AJA.

Before his retirement, Tim was the Director of the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department in Florida, where he shared his vision of a modern, state-of-the art corrections department with staff and mentored many of the command staff members, even encouraging most, if not all, to pursue continuing education in the field to include Jail Manager certifications.
