The Coronavirus has impacted the world in ways that has been unimaginable. Thousands have died and even more have become ill with the virus.
It is touching every aspect of life as we have known it. Social distancing, self-quarantine, and stay-at-home orders have all found their way into our daily routines and our daily vocabulary.
For the brave men and women who work in our nation’s jails, the impact is even more pronounced. Going to work every day to carry out the duties to care for those in their custody has put an even greater burden on their responsibility. They are the first responders that not many talk about or recognize.
Many corrections officers and support staff have been, or will be impacted, by this disease. The American Jail Association, in conjunction with our generous business partners, has established a fund to help them through this difficult time.
If you have had COVID-19 or tested positive, we would like to offer some financial help.
To be considered for assistance, please complete the application form and submit it, along with a letter from your jail administrator or sheriff confirming your eligibility. All applications will be evaluated by our AJA Corrections Staff Relief Fund Committee to determine eligibility and award amount.
