Correction Officer
Correction Officers maintain the safety and security within our jail, house of correction, and regional lockup. They enforce all state and federal laws in these facilities as well as provide for the care, custody, and control for the inmates housed there. Officers are not just focused on safety and order, but are also tasked with the duties and responsibilities for the care and rehabilitation of the inmates placed within these facilities.
Correction Officer is our entry level position and vacancies in other divisions such as investigations and K9 are generally selected from our pool of Officers first. Officers are assigned to one of three shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, or 11pm-7am. Officers are initially assigned to a shift and thier 2 days off. Once an thier probationary period ends, they may "bid" on whatever shifts are available and posted.
All new Officers must complete a 9 week academy which is held at our main facility, monday-friday from 8am-4pm. Officers are not housed at our facility and go home at the end of each workday. Those with prior experience as an officer but reside in another state must still complete this academy in compliance with state laws and standards.
We currently offer a $5,000 hiring bonus (paid in 2 installments during the officers first year).
We also offer accelerated pay for those with previous military, law enforcement, corrections, Fire/EMS experience.
We provide an annual $1000 uniform allowance, 2 weeks of paid vacation (with the ability to earn up to 4), paid holidays and personal time, paid family medical leave, 15 days a year in earned sick time, longevity bonuses, and much more.
