Instructors: Fred W. Meyer and Kendra D. Meyer

Fred W. Meyer has over 25 years of experience in corrections. He joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 1999; rose through the ranks and retired honorably as deputy chief in 2022. Mr. Meyer was responsible for the largest jail operation in the state of Nevada. He holds a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and received the Ray Coleman Correctional Administrator of the Year from the American Jail Association (AJA) in 2021.
Mr. Meyer is recognized as a Certified Jail Manager by the American Jail Association (AJA) and a Certified Correctional Health Professional by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). He also sits on the NCCHC’s Accreditation and Standards Committee and is a graduate of both the AJA’s National Jail Leadership Command Academy and Jail Executive Development Program.
His current interests include teaching, training, and providing leadership consulting services for correctional operations and medical and mental health care services.

Kendra D. Meyer has over two decades of experience as a registered nurse, with most of that time spent in leadership roles. She has experience providing care and leadership in juvenile and adult detention facilities, as well as home health and hospice care. Kendra has over ten years of service as a health services administrator and holds specialty certification as a Certified Correctional Health Care Professional (CCHP-RN).
Kendra audits medical and mental health care operations within correctional facilities and currently enjoys working as an instructor and consultant to ensure jails and prisons provide the highest levels of medical and mental health care for those incarcerated.
