Legal Issues / Following the Latest Trends and Developing Best Practices
The landscape of corrections in regard to the use of force has been rapidly changing over the past few years and last several months. This two-day interactive training is designed to hone the skills of corrections managers, supervisors and line staff by reviewing best use of force practices in dealing with offenders with mental health issues, medical issues, and co-occurring disorders. We will also focus on the latest developments in legal issues that impact our staff, offenders and facilities. Best practices, recent case law, statutory requirements and operational strategies will be discussed. Topics will include:

A minimum number of participants are needed to hold our workshops. You may cancel up to five business days prior to the Professional Development Workshop. No refunds will be given for cancellations received five or less business days before the class. All cancellations are subject to a $50 service fee. Your cancellation must be received in writing via fax or e-mail. Substitutions are acceptable. "No Shows" will be charged at the applicable rate.
It is strongly recommended that participants DO NOT purchase airline tickets without first contacting AJA to confirm program availability. Workshops begin at 8:00 AM and usually go until 4:00 PM (unless otherwise noted).
