Preventing Suicide in Your Jail: Key Strategies to Save Lives and Avoid Lawsuits
Despite the use of multiple strategies to prevent individuals from taking their own lives, suicide remains the leading cause of death in jails. Tweaks and adjustments to current suicide prevention practices are needed. This high-energy and interactive 3-day training focuses on modifying the 10 current strategies that most jails are using in order to better avoid tragic deaths and large lawsuits. The presenter is a jail suicide expert who is regularly involved with lawsuits related to suicide deaths in corrections. The practical presentation includes video clips, photos, role-playing, and audience participation. Lessons learned from suicide litigation are also discussed.

About the Instructor:
Dr. Lisa Boesky is a psychologist and jail suicide expert who has consulted on suicide and mental health in corrections for 25 years. Dr. Boesky has provided high-energy, content-filled, and engaging conference presentations and trainings on suicide-related issues to correctional professionals for more than two decades. She assesses suicide prevention programs within correctional facilities and provides recommendations for improvement. She serves as an opinion source for national media including USA Today, US News & World Report, CNN, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, and others. She is an experienced expert witness and forensic consultant on lawsuits related to incarcerated individuals who take their own lives in custody.
