AJA’s 35th Annual Conference & Jail Expo in Austin, Texas at the Austin Convention Center is quickly approaching. We are “Together Towards Tomorrow” with the biggest and best conference yet. With a focus on criminal justice reform, networking opportunities, and more than 60 workshops and educational sessions, this is a conference you can’t afford to miss!

AJA’s Annual Conference & Jail Expo is the only national event that focuses on local jails. One of a kind, it is expected to bring together hundreds of correctional officers, jail managers, and local detention facility professionals. Offering more than 60 educational workshops and an Expo with over 200 vendors, the Annual Conference & Jail Expo is one of the most broad-ranging educational opportunities in the local corrections field.

Some key highlights planned include:
• Special Topic Workshops on Saturday.
• Concurrent education workshops from Sunday through Wednesday.
• Ribbon-cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening on Sunday night.
• Certification programs on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
• The Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday night.

Annual Awards Banquet
Keeping with the commitment of providing leadership to the local correction profession through education, research, and best practices, AJA presents 6 prestigious recognitions are to be awarded at this year’s Awards Banquet on Tuesday evening. The awards include:
• Volunteer of the Year
• Civilian Employee of the Year
• Correctional Officer of the Year
• Correctional Training Officer of the Year
• Correctional Supervisor of the Year
• Correctional Administrator of the Year

Immediately following the banquet, settle in for an evening of rousing entertainment from Jeff Ross, stand-up comedian, actor, director, author, and roastmaster. The current New York Friars’ Club Roastmaster General, Jeff helped bring those roasts to Comedy Central in 1998. Jeff also shares a personal history with AJA. Last year he performed for and roasted inmates at the Brazos County Jail, which aired on Comedy Central. We are thrilled to have him perform for us in Austin.
